    Growing native forests – Porirua

    Join a workshop hosted by Ngahere Korowai and presented by Te Uru Rākau – New Zealand Forest Service to inspire and guide landowners, community members, and enthusiasts to grow native forests.

    Location: Porirua Gospel Chapel, 88 Hereford Street, Cannons Creek.

    Join members of Predator Free Porirua at a tunnel building workshop. Materials are provided, bring a hammer and some gloves if you have them.

    The tunnels built will be going out to Porirua Predator Free Communities.

    Join the fine folk from Whitireia Park Restoration at the start of the Winter planting season. Bring several layers of clothing including wind proof jacket, water and a spade if you have one.

    Location: Meet at the escarpment tops by the concrete pads.

    Join Whitireia Park Restoration planting to link the Onehunga valley with the Onepoto stream catchment.

    This is a sheltered site but still bring 3 to 4 clothing layers. We will have spades, but bring a spade if you have one.

    Location: Meet at the Onehunga Bay Carpark.

    We are holding another training session for eager individuals and couples who can join in to give us a hand.

    Join Greater Wellington and the Friends of Battle Hill and help restore Battle Hill Farm Forest Park at our community planting day.

    Perfect for those who enjoy a bit of physical activity as you’ll be carrying plants and digging holes.

Get a trap

Get help to set up a trap in your backyard or local area. No experience needed! A koha for the trap is optional.

Look after a trapline

Spend two hours a month maintaining a line of traps in a local reserve. No experience needed - training and equipment provided.

Volunteer your skills

If you have time to help with coordination, online comms, building traps or community engagement in an ongoing way, we’d love to hear from you.
